After many headlines, Apple Music has finally launched. Promising features similar to other streaming services on the market; a expansive library of music, a la Spotify, Pandora-style personalized radio stations, and Beats Music-style curation, Apple Music seems to bundle a wealth of services into one ecosystem that already has millions of users. Somnolent dance follows euphoric anthems on Jamie xx’s In Color like a quiet drive home after a night at a rave. The closing track ‘Girl’ swells and dissolves spectrally, bringing down the curtain on a tremendously impressive debut. This is one producer with a massive future ahead of him.
As a live act, Cut Copy bring their dance numbers to life with live drums and guitars accompanying their electronic tracks, and although this limits their ability to diverge from the original tracks dramatically, it’s the combination of Dan’s ability to manage the crowd and Tim’s on-stage prancing that results in a great entertaining and energetic performance.
With "The Powers That B - Part I: Niggas On The Moon," Death Grips managed to mark a sonic achievement, both in their discography and in hip-hop's musical culture as well. As bizarre, raw and sadic as it is infectious, atmospheric and immensely addicting characteristics. This album is a swirling storm of stimulation, both musically and emotionally.
